Schmidt Listens to the Veterans

Schmidt Listens to the Veterans

Immediate Release: 7/17/2017

In the 21st District of New York, Fort Edward native, Dalton Girard, a recent combat medic who just got back after a year in Iraq was selected as the new Director of the Veteran Affairs Outreach and Platform Team for Christopher Schmidt for Congress.

Libertarian Congressional Candidate for the 21st District of New York, Christopher Schmidt says “Mr. Girard is a leader. He knows exactly what to do and when there is a task, he accomplishes it. Dalton’s sincerity is exactly the kind of compassionate policy advisory that our Veterans need in Congress. I am glad that he is a part of the team to get me in to the House of Representatives. I think that sometimes the best policy comes from those who are most effected by the decisions and that is why I am listening to our Veterans.”

In regards to the new appointment, Mr. Girard released his first message saying:

“As a veteran, I am proud to support Chris in his campaign and his outstanding determination to help us veterans with our struggles coming back from combat zones. Chris and I agree, the V.A. needs a positive change and I am happy to bring my ideas to the table. Some examples of our platform for Congress include speeding up a bill that would allow veterans struggling with pain and PTSD, the option of being prescribed medical marijuana. Another area of concern is hiring more nurse anesthetists to help bridge the gap between doctor and patient and in return would decrease wait time for our Veterans, which is a common practice in private medicine.

I, as well as Chris, would also like to see a decrease in the overwhelming amount of mind numbing narcotics prescribed that only treat the symptom and not the injury and are almost always taken for the rest of their life. Instead of prescribing prescriptions overzealously, Chris and I both agree on a more intense focus on physical therapy for bodily injuries and counseling on a more regular basis for PTSD victims. Reintegration programs for servicemen and women returning home are critical, but most importantly getting more answers from the V.A. about how their bureaucracy is reviewed and making sure they improve their treatment practices for our veterans. We plan on going to V.A.’s and talking to real veterans about their struggles to help reach the best solution possible.”

Mr Girard asks those with questions concerning Veterans Affairs issues or to volunteer time or energy to the campaign to Elect Christopher Schmidt in the 21st District of New York to contact him by email at st7medic@gmail.com or by visiting www.ChristopherForCongress.com.
